History

This building was originally Price Lumber Company built by John T. Price circa 1906 backed by his good friend John Franklin Barnett (1883-1963) and the Citizen's State Bank later known as Palacios State Bank at 501 Main. After Price died by drowning on Matagorda Island beach in 1919, his brother Rob, came from his Collegeport lumberyard to run the Palacios business. In 1924 J. F. Barnett purchased the property. It wasn't until 1939 that J. F. assumed management and much later changed the name to Barnett Lumber Company. In 1956 his son Price (named after John T. Price), took over the lumberyard. Price's son John assumed the property in 1981 and sold it to Casey (R.Q.) Jones in 1983. Still known as Casey's Plumbing the property was sold by Casey's widow, Janice Jones, to Wayne Dodd, his wife Cheryl Donaho Dodd and her sister Marilyn Donaho Mills in 1999. Many of the relics displayed here are reminiscent of the heritage of all these people and the lovely people of Palacios. The Outrigger opened September 7, 2000.
